Washington, D.C. (February 23, 2026) – HWG LLP is pleased to announce that Katie Mellinger has joined the firm as an associate. Katie focuses her practice on telecommunications, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters, advising clients on regulatory compliance and cybersecurity issues.

“Katie’s background in telecommunications and technology policy, combined with her experience in international regulatory matters, makes her an excellent addition to HWG,” said HWG Chair John Nakahata. “We are excited to welcome her to the firm and support her continued growth as part of our team.”

Before joining HWG, Katie served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Office of International Affairs, having joined the agency through the Attorney Honors Program. At the FCC, she led bilateral and regional engagement with European partners, as well as participation within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), covering a wide range of telecommunications and technology issues.

Katie earned her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law. She received a B.S. in Journalism, a B.A. in Political Science, and a Certificate in International Relations from the University of Florida, and she completed professional training at the Oxford University Media Policy Summer Institute.
