Helen Marie counsels and advocates for communications and technology companies, ranging from start-ups to large, established firms.
Her recent experience includes advising VoIP and internet service providers on federal subsidy programs, emergency services regulations, and state and local filing requirements; serving as regulatory counsel for proposed mergers and acquisitions; and conducting a risk assessment for an emerging company’s privacy practices.
Helen Marie also spent a year seconded as telecommunications law counsel at a large technology company. There she advised product counsel and software engineers on compliance with the Communications Act and other federal and state laws governing communications products.
Prior to entering private practice, Helen Marie clerked for the Honorable Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as Executive Production Editor of the Michigan Law Review and was awarded the Howard B. Coblentz Prize for Outstanding Contribution to the Michigan Law Review. Prior to entering law school, Helen Marie was a Fulbright Scholar in Turkey, where she taught classes at Atatürk University.
