At HWG LLP, we take privacy and data protection seriously. On this page, we’ll give you the information about our privacy and data protection practices for the personal information that we gather from or about visitors to our website, our business contacts, and other individuals, other than HWG employees. How We Collect and Use Personal Information
Representation-Related Information
We may obtain personal information from our or on behalf of our clients in connection with our representation of them. For example, our clients may provide us with files containing personal information pertaining to their customers or business contacts. We use this information in connection with providing legal services on behalf of the relevant client, in accordance with the relevant client’s instructions, applicable law, and the applicable rules of professional conduct.
If you believe HWG may have been provided with your personal information in connection with its representation of a client, please contact that individual or company directly for more information related to their data protection practices.
Website Visitors
We may collect the following types of personal information from and about individuals who visit any HWG website:

Job Candidates
When considering a candidate for a job at HWG, we collect contact information, employment history, criminal history, credit history, and other information bearing on fitness for a particular position with HWG.
We may collect personal information from or about job candidates in the following ways:

Notice for California Residents
This chart provides an overview of the categories of personal information that HWG has collected, used, and disclosed in its capacity as a “business,” as defined in the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), during the past 12 months.
We may retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in the chart.
In the past 12 months, HWG has not “sold” or “shared” personal information with “third parties,” as such terms are defined in the CCPA. HWG does not knowingly “sell” or “share” personal information relating to children under the age of 16.
Children’s Privacy

Unsubscribing from HWG Communications
From time to time, we may contact you with information about laws, recent developments, and HWG that may be of interest to you. You can unsubscribe from future communications from HWG at any time by following the directions contained in the communication you received or by emailing your request to dpo@hwglaw.com.

Do Not Track and Universal Opt-Outs
HWG’s website is not currently configured to accept browsers’ “Do Not Track” signals, as no industry-wide standard for handling them has been adopted. HWG’s website does not provide a universal opt-out from the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, as such terms are defined in the CCPA, as HWG does not engage in such sale or sharing.
Requests Pertaining to Representation-Related Information
If you believe HWG may have been provided with your personal information in connection with its representation of a client, please contact that individual or company directly with any requests related to your personal information.
Other Requests to Exercise Your Privacy Rights
We accept the following types of requests related to your privacy rights, with respect to personal information that HWG has collected from or about you in its capacity as a “business,” as that term is defined in the CCPA, or a “data controller,” as that term is defined in the Colorado Privacy Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, or other applicable data protection law:

We may require you to verify your identity before honoring your request. If your request is submitted by your authorized agent, authorized agent must present a signed, written authorization to act on your behalf.
We will respond to your request as soon as possible, even if we are unable to grant your request.
We do not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
HWG will notify you of any changes to this privacy notice by posting the updated notice on this page with its effective date. If the change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance where required by applicable law.
