Washington, D.C. (April 23, 2025) – HWG LLP is pleased to announce that Jonathan Baum has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation and Investigations Practice Group. Jonathan brings a wealth of experience in a wide variety of high-profile civil and criminal proceedings across the country.
“Jonathan combines exceptional courtroom skill with a deep understanding of the legal, reputational, and strategic challenges clients face in high-stakes matters,” said HWG Chair John Nakahata. “He’s the kind of lawyer clients turn to when the stakes are high, and the spotlight is on.”
Jonathan will draw on his deep experience in high-stakes criminal and civil litigation to advise clients facing government investigations, enforcement actions, and parallel proceedings. He has handled matters involving alleged trade secret theft, economic espionage, securities and accounting fraud, public corruption, bribery, sexual harassment, and money laundering. Known for his work on high-profile cases, Jonathan is well positioned to guide clients through sensitive issues — particularly those unfolding under public and media scrutiny.
“We are excited to welcome Jonathan to our litigation team,” Managing Partner Jennifer Bagg said. “His confident, focused approach to high-pressure criminal and civil matters will substantially bolster our team.”
Prior to joining HWG, Jonathan was a partner at an Am Law 100 firm, where he focused on commercial litigation, white-collar defense, securities enforcement, internal and independent investigations, and employment disputes. While there, he and his colleagues secured a full acquittal at trial for Dr. Michael Lynch, founder and CEO of Autonomy, in one of the most high-profile criminal fraud cases in Silicon Valley history. That matter was recognized in Global Investigations Review’s 2024 Most Important Cases of the Year.
Jonathan has taught courses on criminal practice, professional responsibility, and white collar crime as an adjunct professor at University of California Berkeley School of Law, Quinnipiac University, and Golden Gate University School of Law. He earned his J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law, his M.A. from Yale University, and his B.S. from Northwestern University.
