Hilary P. Gerzhoy was featured in the New York Law Journal article entitled “More Extensive Vetting: How Law Firms are Picking Laterals,” discussing the implementation of a more comprehensive hiring process for law firms.  

Having a thorough hiring process, which requires more in-person meetings and substantial reference checking, has lengthened the time commitment for candidates. To address this rising issue, law firms are implementing the universal lateral partner questionnaire drafted by the National Association of Legal Search Consultants. 

Hilary shared her insight on the questionnaire and how the ethics rules govern lateral moves. 

Hilary is the Vice Chair of HWG’s Legal Ethics and Malpractice Group. She represents lawyers and law firms in disciplinary investigations, prosecutions, and malpractice matters, and represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal litigation. Hilary is Vice Chair of the D.C. Rules Committee, she teaches legal ethics at the Georgetown University Law Center, and she serves on Law360′s Legal Ethics Editorial Advisory Board.
