HWG attorney Thomas B. Mason and Amy E. Richardson presented an Ethics CLE, “Leaving Government Employment: Ethics Issues for Attorneys,” at the Celesq® AttorneysEd Center on April 14, 2026.
The program provided a practical overview of the ethics rules governing attorneys transitioning from government service to private practice, emphasizing their role in protecting the public and maintaining confidence in government decision-making.
Tom and Amy covered key federal statutes, regulations, and professional conduct rules, including the meaning of “personal and substantial participation,” restrictions on negotiating for employment, and the scope of post-employment limitations on matters, clients, and communications with former agencies.
