Hilary P. Gerzhoy was recently quoted in the Bloomberg Law article, “Big Law’s Increasing AI Use Could Speed Billable Hours’ Demise,” discussing the predicted shift from billable hours to flat fees due to increased AI use in law firms.
Hilary commented on current initiatives law firms are taking as the use of AI rises, noting that “firms are readily accepting flat fees and other alternative payment arrangements—a long-held goal of many large corporate clients—as they try to stay profitable while they assimilate AI tools.” The article goes on to consider the risks and opportunities associated with using AI in legal work, including in the context of global and domestic regulation.
