Hilary P. Gerzhoy was recently quoted in the Law360 article, “AI Not Slowing Down Despite Ethical Risks, Experts Say,” discussing the rapid rise of AI use in law firms, applicable ethical concerns, and the growing need for regulation to mitigate pitfalls.
Hilary shared insight on the attorneys most susceptible to “bad uses” of AI, explaining that the high-pressure legal career often attracts perfectionists striving to accomplish tasks more efficiently, hence the appeal of leveraging AI. She also highlighted how the revenue concerns spurred by AI’s speed have pushed a shift to flat fee arrangements, in place of hourly billing.
Hilary is the Vice Chair of HWG’s Legal Ethics and Malpractice group, Vice Chair of the D.C. Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee, a member of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Legal Ethics, and an adjunct law professor at Georgetown where she teaches legal ethics. Hilary represents lawyers in front of numerous disciplinary bodies at the state and federal level, as well as companies and individuals in a vast range of white-collar criminal investigations.
