Sean A. Lev, John A. Hodges, and Jason E. Neal recently published a Law360 article, “How Trump Orders Roll Back Energy Efficiency Mandates,” analyzing President Trump’s executive orders that significantly impact appliance and industrial equipment efficiency rules. 

The article highlights several recent orders, including those freezing administrative rulemaking, mandating a focus on price relief and consumer choice for appliances in energy regulation, and modifying the Process Rule. Sean, John, and Jason emphasize the importance of industry being aware of these developments and how they affect industry’s interests. 

Sean serves as chair of HWG’s Energy practice in addition to being co-chair of our Issues and Appeals practice. He has experience advising and advocating for clients on regulatory issues related to energy, technology, and other fields. He has worked in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, including as Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Energy. 

John’s practice focuses on energy, environmental law, product safety, and international trade. He has experience counseling clients on energy-related matters and has litigated complex environmental issues, including ones regarding energy efficiency, preemption, and the liability of foreign states.  

Jason focuses his practice on energy, telecommunications, and appellate litigation. He counsels clients on regulatory issues in Department of Energy proceedings and represents clients in appellate challenges to adverse decisions.
