On November 8, Thomas B. Mason served as a panelist on the CLE, “Leaving Government Employment: Ethics Issues for Lawyers,” at the American Bar Association (ABA)’s 2024 Administrative Law Fall Conference.
Tom highlighted relevant ethical standards in the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct and statutory requirements as they relate to attorneys moving from federal government employment to the private or nonprofit sector. He described ethical issues attorneys should consider when making this transition to avoid violating ethics rules, including potential conflicts of interest, confidentiality rules, and fee-sharing issues.
