Hilary Gerzhoy and Mohammad (Muji) Ali secured a significant appellate victory as court-appointed amicus in United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. On July 2, the appellate court overturned a district court’s decision that dismissed their client’s retaliation claims, thereby allowing him to proceed with his case against his employer.

As court-appointed amicus counsel, HWG successfully argued that their client had presented sufficient evidence to support a plausible claim of retaliation.

In January, Muji delivered a compelling oral argument, successfully persuading the appellate judges that granting relief would not conflict with precedents established in Bell Atlantic Corp v. Twombly and Ashcroft v. Iqbal. This reversal underscores the validity of their client’s claims and the importance of addressing his allegations of retaliatory actions by his employer.

The firm congratulates Hilary and Muji for their advocacy and commitment to achieving justice for their client.
