Washington, D.C. — April 28, 2021 — HWG is pleased to announce that Sam Walsh, a partner in the firm’s energy practice, has been nominated to serve as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
Mr. Walsh, who has devoted his career to addressing issues involving energy policy and law, joined HWG in 2017 after serving as Deputy General Counsel for Energy Policy at DOE.
“Sam is an extraordinary lawyer and a thoughtful leader,” said Scott Blake Harris, Chairman of HWG and a former General Counsel of DOE, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sam at DOE and in private practice. Though I am sorry to lose him as a colleague, I cannot imagine anyone more qualified for this important post than Sam.”
Mr. Walsh received his law degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, his M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School, and his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Yale University.
