On October 31, HWG hosted its annual CLE ethics program which explored two evolving issues with significant impact on the legal community: the impact of Rule 5.4 on the future of the profession and the legal ethics of social media. The program, available to HWG clients and friends of the firm, featured speakers from the firm’s well-known legal ethics and litigation teams.
HWG attorneys Thomas Mason and Deepika Ravi discussed the evolution of the rules prohibiting fee sharing with nonlawyers, the growing movement toward reforming the rules, and the interplay of the rules with litigation financing.
HWG attorneys Mark Davis and Hilary Gerzhoy focused their presentation on ethics issued raised by social media use including the investigative uses of social media, conflicts issues, and restrictions on advertising and marketing.
