Thomas Mason presented a panel titled “Complicit? Ethical Challenges in a Connected World” with Kathryn Fitz of Fenwick & West LLP at the ABA Internet of Things Conference.

The panel discussed the ethical issues connectivity may create in the legal field and how the ABA Model Rules apply to such issues. Panelists covered the importance of maintaining competence in a fast-paced technological environment, the challenges of e-discovery with mass data collected on personal and work devices, protecting the confidentiality of client data, and the ethical obligations when attorneys make mistakes.
